My name is Mark Sniffen, and I am a recent graduate of the School of Film and Animation at the Rochester Institute of Technology. I focused my studies on the art of digital compositing and match-moving. Currently I am working on a project that I co-wrote and co-directed with my friend, Andrew Church, called Elysium. It is a science fiction epic that takes place in space, and involves a ton of visual effects work. I am solely creating all of the computer generated visuals, both 3D and 2D, and am compositing them into the live action footage that we shot on set.
Hopefully this blog will be an outlet for any interesting techniques or strategies that I find along the way. I welcome comments, critiques, suggestions, and any questions one might have.
Your video is remarkably good. The sfx seem up to the standard of sfx in Battlestar Galactica (although not as complex – not so many objects in frames), and certainly better than the effects in Babylon 5. Terrificwork, and good luck for the future.

Hey Mark saw some great potential in your trailer and immediatly thought of what most others thought of…. the voice over. I saw where you commented on not liking the voice over and would like to take a chance at trying out for the voice over. I have a fairly deep voice and have been told that it would make a good radio voice.
If you are interested please let me know.
Dude, RIT? Me too (new media design). We should meet up sometime. Email me.
